PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate a driver assistance function when the driver assistance function is determined to be necessary even if it has been deactivated by a driver.SOLUTION: An advanced driver assistance system 10 of a vehicle for executing one or more driver assistance functions includes an environmental sensor 14, a driver status monitor 24, an activation switch 22, and a driver assistance controller 12. The environmental sensor 14 detects an environment around the vehicle. The driver status monitor 24 monitors the driver to determine an abnormal state of the driver. The activation switch 22 can be operated by the driver to activate or deactivate the driver assistance function. The driver assistance controller 12 executes one or more driver assistance functions in order to control the vehicle based on a target behavior. The target behavior is set based on the environment around the vehicle. The driver assistance controller 12 activates the driver assistance function when the driver status monitor detects the abnormal state of the driver in the deactivated state of the activation switch 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
