PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film, a reflective polarizing plate, and a display device.SOLUTION: The reflective polarizing plate includes a polarizer and an optical film described below. The optical film includes an anisotropic layer including a dichroic dye capable of forming a lyotropic liquid crystal phase, in which an absolute value of a difference between a refractive index with respect to light in a visible light region which has a polarization axis in a direction parallel to an optical transition dipole moment of an anisotropically absorbing fragment of the dichroic dye and a refractive index with respect to light in the visible light region which has a polarization axis in a direction perpendicular to the optical transition dipole moment is 0.2 or more. The light having a polarization axis in a direction parallel to the optical transition dipole moment is reflected by the anisotropic layer while the light having a polarization axis in a direction perpendicular to the optical transition dipole moment is transmitted through the anisotropic layer; and the optical transition dipole moment of the dichroic dye or a projection of the optical transition dipole moment onto a plane of the anisotropic layer is parallel to a light-absorbing axis of the polarizer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
