The method involves applying heat to an image detecting device having an ohmic contact. The applied heat is controlled to adjust a temperature level of the image detecting device. The detecting device is formed of a radiation responsive semiconductor material, such as cadmium zinc telluride, and the ohmic contact is coupled to the image detecting device. An insulating layer is included in the detecting device to retain the heat generated by utilizing a heating device within the device. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an image detecting device comprising a substrate; and (2) an imaging system comprising a radiation source.
