PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition apparatus, an image recognition program, and the like for recognizing the type of a lane mark with high precision while suppressing any arithmetic processing load. SOLUTION: The image recognition apparatus includes: an image information acquisition means 12 which acquires the image information G of a plurality of frames obtained by photographing at least a road surface in the periphery of one's own vehicle at prescribed time intervals; an image recognition means 31 which performs image recognition processing to detect the leading end and trailing end of a lane mark included in a detection area set in each frame of the image information G; a distance detection means 32 which detects the distance from one of the leading end and trailing end of the lane mark to the other on the basis of the number of frames between a frame in which one of the leading end and trailing end of the lane mark is detected and a frame in which the other end of the lane mark is detected and the speed of the own vehicle; and a lane mark type determination means 33 which determines the lane mark type of the lane mark on the basis of the detected distance.
