<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling member and a rolling bearing for the auxiliary machinery of automotive electrical equipment, which exhibit the long life under harsh environments while reducing a content of an alloying element. <P>SOLUTION: An outer race 11, an inner race 12 and a ball 13 of a ball bearing 1 with a deep groove having grease enclosed therein are made of a steel which comprises 0.7 to 1.1% of carbon, 0.3 to 0.7% of silicon, 0.3 to 0.8% of manganese, 0.5 to 1.2% of nickel, 1.3 to 1.8% of chromium, 0.1 to 0.7% of molybdenum, 0.2 to 0.4% of vanadium and the balance iron with impurities, while keeping a total content of silicon and manganese at 1.0% or less, a total content of nickel and chromium at 2.3% or more and a total content of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium at 3.0% or less; and have a layer containing high carbon formed on their surfaces. The surface layer part of the layer has a hardness of 725 to 800 HV. The maximum particle size of carbides dispersed in the surface layer part is 10μm or smaller and the area ratio thereof is 7 to 20% or less. The surface layer part includes more carbon than the inner part by 0.2 to 0.4%, and includes 0.1 to 0.5 mass% of nitrogen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
