PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data constraint engine that carries out data constraints in a multilingual data tier having a plurality of database proprietary data stores.SOLUTION: The data constraint engine uses the concept of a unified model based on "records" because data constraints are prescribed by a method not dependent on stores. The data constraint engine extracts a data source identifier for identifying a data store that holds a record corresponding to data designated in a request from a remote client 30 and the designated data. Next, a record shape that determines the structure of the record is extracted from a shape catalog 110. A verifier 120 verifies the record against the record shape in accordance with various criteria such as a format, a data type, density, and the number of slots.
