PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool capable of being inserted into a mounting hole formed on a tool rest from one end face side and the other end face side and performing cutting up to a height projected from the one end face of the tool rest. SOLUTION: This cutting tool 1 is inserted into the mounting hole formed in the tool rest of an automatic lathe and is fixed. The cutting tool 1 has a tool body 2 constituted of a cylindrical shank part 3 extended along an axis O and a cutting edge part 4 arranged at a distal end of the shank part 3. In the cutting edge part 4, a cutting blade 24 projected toward the radial outside of the tool body 2 is formed. In the shank part 3, a cut-out part 13 directed in the projected direction of the cutting edge 24 and extended in parallel to the axis O is formed. A distance between the cutting edge 24 and the axis O is larger than a distance from the axis O of the cut-out part 13 and is set to be smaller than a radius of a cylinder formed by the shank part 3.
