PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable resume-reproduction of removable media viewed outside a network in remote viewing within the network complying with a predetermined standard guideline.

SOLUTION: A digital media server manages the reproduction-interruption position of contents stored in a hard disk drive and registers virtual contents to be reproduced from the reproduction-interruption position as an item of a contents directory. When resume information is recorded in the loaded removable media such as a DVD-RAM, virtual contents in which contents are reproduced from the reproduction-interruption position that the resume information shows are registered as an item of the contents directory.
