PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element which increases the incident quantity of a light emitted from a light emitting element body to be incident on a rod lens, and improves the take out efficiency of the light from the emitting layer.

SOLUTION: The element comprises a light conductor 6 which covers a light emitting element body 3 formed on the surface 2a of a substrate 2 at its one thickness side to emit a light when being fed with a current, and a reflector 5 for reflecting the light emitted from the body 3; and is made of a material having a light transparency and a higher refractive index than air so as to be filled in the gap between the body 3 and the reflector 5.
