PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of adsorbing undesirable gas molecules for a long period, and having an excellent vacuum life. SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with a housing 10 having a first substrate 11 and a second substrate 12 of which surrounding parts are joined, a display surface 16 arranged on the first substrate, a plurality of electron sources arranged on the second substrate, a getter box 50 which is jointed to the housing and defines a getter chamber 51 to communicate with the inside of the housing, and a getter 56 installed in the getter chamber.
