PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct methanol type fuel cell exhibiting high cell performance by balancing a mass transfer property in an anode with suppression of methanol crossover. SOLUTION: This porous carbon sheet for an anode electrode base material of a direct methanol type fuel cell is composed by bonding dispersing short carbon fibers with a resin carbide, has a plurality of through-holes penetrating the front and back surfaces of the sheet, and is characterized in that the diameter of each through-hole on the sheet is 100-400μm.
