PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamable styrene resin particle for producing lightweight concrete, which particle can ensure satisfactory foamability even when the particle size thereof is small.SOLUTION: The foamable styrene resin particle for producing lightweight concrete contains an acrylic ester-derived resin component and a foaming agent and has the following characteristics. The characteristic (1) is that the foamable styrene resin particle has 200-500 μm average particle diameter. The characteristic (2) is that when an infrared absorption spectrum of the surface layer thereof and that of the central part thereof are measured by a microscopic transmission imaging method to obtain absorbance D1730 at 1730 cmand absorbance D1600 at 1600 cmfrom the infrared absorption spectrum and an absorbance ratio (D1730/D1600) (A) of the surface layer and another absorbance ratio (D1730/D1600) (B) of the central part are calculated, (i) the absorbance ratio (D1730/D1600) (A) is larger than the absorbance ratio (D1730/D1600) (B) and (ii) the absorbance ratio (D1730/D1600) (A) is within 0.15-0.5. |
