A hazard warning system comprising a transmitter 9 and a receiver 17 wherein the transmitter 9 is adapted to be located on or near a hazard and the receiver 17 is adapted to be located in or on a vehicle 7. The transmitter 9 is arranged to transmit a warning signal 11 which is capable of being received by the receiver 17 and the receiver 17 is adapted to provide an alert 13 to the driver of the vehicle 7 upon receiving the warning signal 11. |
