摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmittance in a pixel periphery and to improve screen luminance in a liquid crystal display device employing an IPS system.SOLUTION: A pixel electrode 110 having a slit 40 is formed on a common electrode 108 with an interlayer insulating film 109 interposed therebetween. An opening 30 is formed in the common electrode 108 outside an end of the pixel electrode 110 in a plan view. Owing to the presence of the opening 30, an electric flux line from an end of the pixel electrode 110 reaches an upper part of a liquid crystal layer as well as reaches further from the end of the pixel electrode 110, which can improve controllability on a liquid crystal in a pixel periphery. Thereby, transmittance of the pixel as a whole can be increased and screen luminance can be improved.
