PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester of high purity in high yield at low cost in which the reaction proceeds under a safe condition.SOLUTION: In the presence of p-toluene sulfonic acid, 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and 2-ethylhexyl alcohol are reacted with each other, which makes it possible to produce 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester in high yield.SELECTED DRAWING: None
