The present invention relates to a power control method for minimum power point tracking control and an apparatus thereof. According to the present invention, a power control method of a power control apparatus for controlling power of a plurality of power conversion modules respectively connected in parallel to a plurality of photovoltaic modules having a serial structure comprises the steps of: sensing a string current value flowing between both ends of each of the plurality of photovoltaic modules and voltage and current values of each of the photovoltaic modules; calculating a conversion power value of each of the plurality of power conversion modules by the string current values using the voltage and current values, while changing the string current values; searching for a string current value for minimum power point tracking control among the string current values using the conversion power values calculated correspondingly for the plurality of power conversion modules; and controlling the plurality of power conversion modules to track the searched string current value. According to the power control method and the apparatus thereof of the present invention, since a power value charged by each of a plurality of power conversion modules respectively connected in parallel to the photovoltaic modules in a photovoltaic system is minimized, a power loss in the power conversion modules can be minimized and the size and costs of a converter are reduced. |
