PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a meta-aramid fiber by a wet type spinning, without having close adhesion among fibers, excellent in dynamic characteristics and having a good thermal property, advantageously in a substantially industrial production level. SOLUTION: This method for producing the meta-type aromatic polyamide fiber is provided by wet-spinning the meta-type whole aromatic polyamide polymer solution, immersing the yarn pulled out from a coagulation bath into air, within 10 sec into a first adjusting bath consisting of an aqueous amide-based solvent at -20 to 20°C, then immersing into a second adjusting bath consisting of the aqueous amide-based solvent at 40-90°C at a higher temperature than that of the first bath, then stretching in a plastic stretching bath consisting of the aqueous amide-based solvent and then heat-treating.
