PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for quickly selecting a device desired by a user among a plurality of reproduction devices on a home network and reproducing contents included in a portable device via the selected device. SOLUTION: This method for identifying a specific apparatus on a UPnP network includes: a step of receiving descriptions from a plurality of content reproduction devices; a step of displaying an apparatus list about a plurality of content reproduction devices by using the received descriptions; a step of selecting one item among the apparatus list by a user; a step of transmitting a message requiring an apparatus report from the content reproduction device matching the selected item; and a step of performing an apparatus report by the content reproduction device to which the message is transmitted.
