<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a player to visually enjoy a percussion instrument by providing pad portions in natural array and forming the external appearance of the whole musical instrument like a cut cake without spoiling percussion operability of the pad portions. <P>SOLUTION: The external appearance of the percussion instrument 100 looks like a cut cake on a dish, and a cut cylinder 30 is provided on a base body 10. The cut cylinder 30 is in the shape formed by cutting and removing a part which is sectorial in plane view along perpendicular end surfaces 32L and 32R corresponding to cut surfaces of the cake from a cylindrical body. The end surfaces 32L and 32R contain an obtuse angle and face inwardly. On a top surface 30a of the cut cylinder 30, four pad portions 35 are arrayed peripherally having their center at the center point of the cylinder.
