PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail system which can easily edit the images stuck on electronic mails, has its satisfactory versatility and also can transmit and receive the electronic mails in a short time. SOLUTION: The image editing means 131 and 231 are added to the mail production means 13 and 23 at every terminal that transmits and receives electronic mails so that the images including drawings can be easily edited on the mail production screens 41 and 48 with no other application software required for editing images. Furthermore, even a terminal where such application software is not installed can perform an image editing job to attain its satisfactory versatility. Then the compression means 14 and 24 compress the electronic mails stored in a file so that the electronic mails themselves can be speedily transmitted and received.
