PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a fixed-speed type refrigerator to be converted to a simple inverter-control type refrigerator.SOLUTION: An embodiment comprises: a fixed-speed main body control unit 12 that can drive a fixed-speed compressor by powering on/off with temperature detection means 17; an inverter control unit 14 operating on the basis of the powering on/off by the fixed-speed main body control unit; and a variable-speed compressor 8 controlled on the basis of the output from the inverter control unit. The inverter control unit is configured to set a rotation speed on the basis of a power on-off signal of the fixed-speed compressor from the fixed-speed main body control unit and drive the variable-speed compressor. Thereby, a fixed-speed type refrigerator can be converted to a simple inverter-control type refrigerator only by incorporating an inverter control unit and a variable speed compressor into a fixed-speed type refrigerator having a fixed-speed main body control unit used for on/off control of a fixed-speed compressor with temperature detection means, where the conversion to the inverter-control type refrigerator can be performed easily without effort by a refrigerator manufacturer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
