PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer belt that suppresses the generation of areas with insufficient density in the vicinity of both ends in the width direction despite having a lamination structure, and an image forming apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer belt 40 of the present invention is an intermediate transfer belt that is formed of a conductive material, used in an image forming apparatus, and carries a toner image on the outer peripheral surface. The intermediate transfer belt has a lamination structure having an outer layer 42 laminated on an inner layer 41, where the outer layer 42 has a lower resistance than that of the inner layer 41 at end areas 43 and 45 on both ends in the width direction. This configuration prevents outward movement in the width direction of conduction electrons in the inner layer 41 during transfer, and whereby the transfer is performed while a charge distribution in the outer layer 42 is relatively uniform. Thus, generation of areas deficient in transfer current is suppressed in the vicinity of the ends in the width direction of a printing sheet, and generation of areas with insufficient density can be suppressed in the vicinity of both ends in the width direction of the printing sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
