<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer which has a new mechanism whereby a cassette in a cassette mounting part is set correctly. <P>SOLUTION: Unless a cassette C is correctly set in the cassette mounting part, a gap is formed between a mounting inner surface 10 and a back surface of the cassette C. When a cover is attached to a body in this state, a roller holder 101 rotates in a counter-energizing direction. A gradient surface 107 of an extension member 106 equipped in the roller holder 101, thereby slides on the surface of the cassette C. A restoration force of a leaf spring which forms the gradient surface 107 acts on the surface of the cassette C, and therefore, the cassette C is pressed towards the mounting inner surface 10. When a movement of the roller holder 101 towards the cassette C is also finished, the back surface of the cassette C contacts with the mounting inner surface 10.
