PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine, capable of preventing runaway-like movement of a hanging rod even in the event of a trouble in a sensor at the time of inclining or erecting a water tank. SOLUTION: The washing machine includes the water tank 2 disposed within a casing 1, hanging rods 82 and 92 for hanging the water tank 2 from four corners within the casing 1, the two hanging rods 92 including hanging rod drive parts 91 for axially moving the hanging rods 92 respectively; suspending means 8 and 9 for inclining or raising the water tank 2; and a control part for stopping driving of the hanging rod drive parts 91 when either an upper limit position or a lower limit position which are preset is detected when the drive parts 91 are driven to axially move the hanging rods 92.
