A method for changing a phone number by analyzing the contents of a message and a mobile communication terminal in which the method is stored are provided to enable a receiving-side mobile terminal to compare directory data with the contents of a short message which a caller sends to inform that his/her phone number is changed, and then request a user of the receiving-side mobile terminal to store the phone number of the caller. A search keyword extractor extracts a search keyword from a continuous character string previously stored in a address book of a mobile communication terminal(S21). A message receiver receives a message which the other party sends(S22). A message searching unit determines whether the extracted search keyword exists within the received message by comparing the contents of the received message with each of the extracted search keyword(S23). If the search keyword is detected from the message, a phone number change guiding unit displays the message contents and contents for requesting to change the phone number on a screen(S24). A phone number storage unit replaces the existing phone number with the phone number extracted from the received message(S25).
