A cylinder lock and a cylindrical shaped key for interacting with the lock. The lock comprises an exterior lock housing (4), an inner cylinder (5, 6), a set of turnable tumbler discs (17), a lock rod (20) and binding rods (19). The inner cylinder (5, 6) is rotatable within the lock housing (4), but the lock rod (19) is arranged to prevent rotation when in a locking position. The inner cylinder (5, 6) encloses the turnable tumbler discs (17), and the tumbler discs (17) are arranged to release or lock the lock rod (19). Spacer plates (13) can be arranged between each of the turnable tumbler discs. The spacer plates having central apertures which correspond to the cylindrical shape of the key shaft (3). The binding rods (19) are positioned in externally facing grooves of the spacer plates, and within internal facing grooves of the lock housing (4). When the inner cylinder (5, 6) begins to rotate within the lock housing (4) the binding rods (19) are forced inwards, locking against protrusions of the turnable tumbler discs (17) and preventing further rotation of the tumbler discs. The binding rods (19) may be positioned 90 degrees either side of the lock rod (20). |
