The method involves guiding air in an electrical operating area (3) for operating fuel cells of a fuel cell block (9), where the air flows through a part of the electrical operating area. The air is guided in a process technical operating area (2), where the air is fed from the operating area (2) into the fuel cell block. The air partially flows into the operating area (2) before supply to the fuel cells of the fuel cell block. An independent claim is also included for a fuel cell unit with a process technical operating area.
