<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restraining erroneous detection about whether or not an image carrier is arranged at a predetermined position. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 80 makes a light emitting element 91 emit light in a first light emission level in S1, and measures the detected light quantity SP1 of regularly reflected light and the detected light quantity DF1 of diffuse reflected light at that time (S2 and S3). Then, the CPU 80 makes the light emitting element 91 emit light in a second light emission level in S4, and measures the detected light quantity SP2 of regularly reflected light and the detected light quantity DF2 of diffuse reflected light at that time (S5 and S6). Whether a difference between the detected light quantity SP1 of the regularly reflected light and the detected light quantity SP2 of the regularly reflected light is equal to or less than a first threshold is decided in S7, and when it exceeds the first threshold ("N" in S7), presence of a belt unit 15 (conveyance belt 18) is decided in S10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
