<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: a recent light beam scanner in which a deflection amount is fed back to a deflection driving value by position information given by a BD detection means, has a plurality of light beam detection positions and the BD detection means is composed by using a plurality of photodiodes and a plurality of complicated and highly accurate optical systems, thus a high cost is incurred. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the light beam scanner which scans a light beam with an optical deflection means, at least one returning light generation means which returns the light beam to the optical deflection means is disposed at a detection position of a predetermined light beam in the scanning region of the optical deflection means, a returning light detection means which detects the returning light and transforms it to an electric signal is disposed in front of the optical deflection means, and optical beam scanning position information is detected by the detection signal of the returning light detection means, thus an inexpensive light beam scanning position detection control means is obtained.
