摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally operate a reproducing element even if the unidirectional anisotropy of a magnetization pinned layer of the reproducing element disappears due to a rise in temperature not lower than a blocking temperature. SOLUTION: When a signal amount of a reproducing signal outputted from a reproducing element of a head 32 is lower than a prescribed value, a heater 10 starts to emit laser light 39. The emitted laser light 39 raises temperatures of a first ferromagnetic layer and an antiferromagnetic layer included in the reproducing element to temperatures not lower than the blocking temperature. A magnet 9 always generates a DC magnetic field. In a process of lowering the temperatures of the first ferromagnetic layer and the antiferromagnetic layer to the temperatures lower than the blocking temperature, the first ferromagnetic layer is imparted with the unidirectional anisotropy once again in a direction the same as the DC magnetic field generated by the magnet 9.
