PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a data transmission method, a reception method, an apparatus, a system, and a program that always maintain an error correction delay at a given value or below, and perform a low-delay and stable error correction by optimizing coding information against the rate variations of an application. SOLUTION: The data monitor function 11 of a data transmission apparatus 1 monitors information amount of input data, and at least one of a data separator indicating final data and an elapsed time since data input is started. An information determination function 12 determines such information as an appropriate coding parameter or the like based on the monitored result. An error correction coding function 14 performs coding based on such information as the determined coding parameter or the like. A parameter notifying function 13 adds information determined by the information determining function 12 to the header of a packet. The information monitoring function 21 of a data receiving apparatus 2 obtains such information as coding parameter or the like from the received packet header.
