CONTINUOUS MONITOR FOR CYANIDE AND CYANOGEN BLOOD AGENT DETECTION IN WATER

A device for continuous detection of the presence of a cyanide analyte an d/or cyanogen analyte in an aqueous sample which relies upon continuous samp ling and controlled delivery of reagents for a chemical reaction which forms a colored dye in the presence of the analyte(s). The device employs a singl e chemical detection pathway which detects both cyanide and cyanogen and dem onstrates continuous user- free operational stability over at least a one mo nth period of time. The continuous monitoring device optionally may include a command post computer interface for enabling the remote monitoring of one or more devices, a wireless communication module for providing real-time dat a monitoring of the devices to a central monitoring facility, and a global p ositioning system module to enable the determination of an exact location of the analyte contamination in a water network. A method for detecting these analytes is also provided.
