PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decide on an appropriate paracentesis route of a paracentesis needle. SOLUTION: The image forming section 8 of an ultrasonograph is composed of a 2D scan conversion section 8b which reorganizes a plurality of ultrasonograms on the basis of a reflected echo signal received by a three-dimensional ultrasonic probe and extracts a specific ultrasonic image including a paracentesis route of a paracentesis needle preset from a plurality of ultrasonic image data, a 3D generating frame memory 8c storing the data of the ultrasonic images, a graphics generating section 8f which generates paracentesis guide line showing the paracentesis route of the paracentesis needle, a cross-sectional image generation section 8e which reorganizes the cross-sectional image in a cross-sectional position intersecting at right angles the paracentesis guideline on the basis of the ultrasonic image data of the 3D generating frame memory 8c, an image synthesis section 8g which superimposes the specific ultrasonic image on the paracentesis guideline and arranges the image side by side with the cross-sectional image for combination, a display section 9 which displays the combined image in the image combination section 8g and a control means 11 to set the cross-sectional position of the cross-sectional image.
