Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for selecting a channel bandwidth. The method includes: acquiring a priority of a second BSS of which a coverage area overlaps with a coverage area of a first BSS, and a channel bandwidth of the second BSS; if a priority of the first BSS is higher than or equal to the priority of the second BSS, determining a channel bandwidth that is greater than or equal to the channel bandwidth of the second BSS as the channel bandwidth of the first BSS, and if the priority of the first BSS is lower than the priority of the second BSS, determining a channel bandwidth that is less than the channel bandwidth of the second BSS as the channel bandwidth of the first BSS. Technical solutions of the present invention determine channel bandwidths between BSSs based on priorities of the BSSs, and thus a BSS with a high priority may be guaranteed preferential occupancy of a large bandwidth, and reasonable allocation of the channel bandwidths of the BSSs is achieved.
