A method for transmitting a paging message comprises: determining a paging time point in a paging cycle, and activating the monitoring of a paging message at the paging time point; and receiving, at the paging time point, a paging message sent by a network side device, the paging cycle being shorter than 10 milliseconds. In the method, by using a paging position determining mechanism of reducing a paging cycle to a millisecond level, the paging cycle can be shorter (even reduced to 1 millisecond), that is, the interval between positions in which a UE can receive paging messages can be smaller, the time required for wait when a paging message needs to be sent can be shorter, and the paging delay can be greatly reduced to a 1 millisecond level. |
