A system and a method for improving a security function through a door lock are provided to improve reliability of security by doubly monitoring and determining an abnormal state at a management server. A system for improving a security function through a door lock includes a door lock(11), a sensor(13), a home controller(14), an external management server(16) and a home gateway(15). The sensor(13) detects opening of the door lock(11). The home controller(14) communicates with the sensor(13) through a power line. If the home controller(14) receives the opening of the door lock(11) from the sensor(13), the home controller(14) informs the opening of the door lock(11) of the external management server(16) through the home gateway(15), and informs release of security and an abnormal state of the management server(16) by checking the release of security for a predetermined time. The external management server(16) checks release informing from the home controller(14) for a predetermined time if receiving the opening of the door lock(11) from the home controller(14) through the home gateway(15). The external management server(16) informs the user of invasion by determining as an abnormal state if the release informing is not received for a predetermined time. The home gateway(15) connects the home controller(14) to the management server(16).
