A system and a method for re-transmitting a termination-failed text message are provided to check whether the structure of a termination-failed text message is available for a destination terminal, and re-configure it if the termination-failed text message is not available for the destination terminal to thus re-process the text message. A receiving SMS(Short Message Service) process(210) receives a termination-failed text message from a transmission SMS process, and transfers it to a backup database(220), and discriminates whether the received termination-failed text message has such a structure that can be received by a destination terminal. The backup database(220) stores information about the structure of the termination-failed text message transferred from the reception SMS process and receivable structures of each destination terminal. If the structure of the termination-failed text message is not receivable by the destination terminal, a re-configuration process(230) reconfigures the termination-failed text message such that it can have a structure that can be received by the destination terminal, and stores the re-configured termination-failed text message in the backup database(220). When a certain time lapses, a backup text message processing process(240) loads the termination-failed text message stored in the backup database(220), transmits it to the destination terminal, and deletes the stored termination-failed text message when the it is received by the destination terminal. When a backup situation occurs, a configuration SMS process(250) controls information re-configured in the re-configuration process(230) and re-sets a backup short message center(200).
