PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when vehicles are carried out of the market (for example, UK vehicles are driven in the European Continent), such an adapted response becomes inaccurate.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for specifying a passage direction section which can be applied to a subject vehicle (3). The subject vehicle (3) travels in a first direction, and has a first side and a second side. The method includes: tracking at least one first object vehicle (V) on the first side of the subject vehicle (3); and/or detecting the existence or non-existence of at least one first static target (T) on the first side of the subject vehicle (3). The travel direction of each first object vehicle (V) is determined on the basis of a relation to the subject vehicle (3). The passage direction section is specified on the basis of the travel direction of each first object vehicle (V) and/or the existence or non-existence of each first static target (T). There is also provided a method for executing an adaptive cruise control (ACC) by using the passage direction section information.
