<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a node etc. and a path MTU (maximum transmission unit) searching method in a packet communication system, which are capable of searching a path MTU efficiently so as to cope with a change in the path MTU. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a packet communication system 1, a node (MN3) as a destination of a packet transmitted from a communication node (CN2) is provided with a linked MTU notification receiving means for receiving notification of linked MTUs connected to respective nodes (MAP12-14) on a path B from the communication node to the destination node, a path MTU setting means for setting a MTU of the path B from among the linked MTU received by the MTU notification receiving means, a path MTU search execution determining means for determining whether or not search of the path MTU is executed on the basis of the path MTU set by the path MTU setting means, and a path MTU notifying means for notifying a communication node of the path MTU set by the path MTU setting means.
