<p>PURPOSE: A method for detecting a pupil using a red-eye effect of an iris recognition system is provided to extract a pupil region by approaching an illuminating device to an optical axis of a camera to obtain an image and using the red-eye effect of the obtained image. CONSTITUTION: A distance measuring process is performed to operate a zooming function and a focusing function of a camera if an user approaches an operating region(S401). An illuminating unit near to an optical axis of the camera is synchronized with a VD signal in order to be turned on or off if the camera is controlled by the zooming function and the focusing function(S402). An iris image is detected according to a flickering state of the illuminating unit and a pupil region corresponding to a red-eye effect is extracted from the detected iris image(S403).</p> |
