The illumination device 12 according to the present embodiment comprises: light sources 17 for emitting primary light; a light guiding plate 19 having a light incident surface 19c on which the primary light is incident, a light emitting surface 19a for emitting the incident primary light, and an opposite surface 19b placed at the opposite side of the light emitting surface, the light guiding plate 19 including a light reflecting/scattering pattern 220 including multiple dot parts 22 that are formed on the opposite surface 19b, that include multiple complementary color dot parts 22a provided at end sides of the opposite surface 19b for absorbing the primary light and exhibiting a color complementary to a reference color exhibited by the primary light, and that include multiple white dot parts 22b, for exhibiting white color, placed closer to the center than the complementary color dot parts 22a; and a wavelength conversion member that contains a fluorescent body for emitting secondary light when being excited by the primary light, and that covers the light emitting surface 19a but transmits a part of the primary light, and emits surface light. |
