<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic door that opens at the minimum necessary width according to the external figure of a person or thing passing through it, not producing any extra opening space, in order to minimize outdoor influences caused by it. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of slats 2 driven by a driving mechanism and movable in the door opening direction are continuously provided at an opening 10 to form a door body 1, and recognition sensors capable of recognizing the external figure of a person or thing passing the door body 1 are provided at least at the entrance side of the door body 1. Based on a recognition signal from these recognition sensors, only those of these slats 2 which may contact the passing person or thing 12 are limitedly moved to positions without fear of the contact to form an opening 19 with a shape corresponding to the external figure of the person or thing for him or it to pass through the opening 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
