PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of improving light take-out efficiency by getting rid of lowering of light take-out efficiency due to reflection. SOLUTION: On the organic EL display device 1, an organic EL element 10 has a structure of laminating a transparent anode layer 12, a hole transport layer 13, a light emitting layer 14, an electron transport layer 15, and a cathode 16 on upper layer side of a substrate 11 in this sequence. Many indentations 110 are formed at random on the upper face of the substrate 11, and a refraction material layer 17 is formed of the upper face of the substrate 11 so as to flatten the indentations 110.
