The electrical socket includes an illuminating ring (7) carrying a lamp-carrying socket (1) with a cap (2) built into the socket with the aid of a hinge (6), the cap (2) covering the said socket (1) of the illuminating lamp (3). The lamp-carrying socket (1) and the cap (2) form a single-unit subassembly made from a material which is more opaque than the illuminating ring (7). The said single-unit subassembly (1, 2) is separate from the illuminating ring (7), being attached to the said ring (7) by dismantlable assembly means (15, 76). Application: motor vehicles.
