PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader capable of confirming the number of carried originals and effectively supporting print processing or the like performed successively. SOLUTION: The original reader counts and displays the number of sheets of originals carried and read by an original carrying read section 2 and effectively supports the print processing successive to reading of the originals so as to improve the ease of use. A user confirms whether or not the displayed number of sheets of the originals is coincident with the number of sheets of the originals on an original set tray 11, when the displayed number of sheets of the originals is coincident with the number of sheets of the originals on the original set tray 11, the user discriminates that no overlapping feed of the originals takes place, and when the displayed number of sheets of the originals is less than the number sheets of the originals on the original set tray 11, the user can discriminate that overlapping feed of the originals takes place, and is supported by the print processing successive to the reading of the originals to quickly and easily execute the print processing.
