<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting receiver capable of switching between a weak hierarchy and a strong hierarchy at a suitable timing according to the reception state of broadcasting electric-waves, when a program of the same content is broadcast in the weak hierarchy and the strong hierarchy by hierarchy transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A transmission path demodulator 3 supplies signal quality information A indicative of the reception state of broadcasting electric-waves to a control section 10. In addition, a synchronizer 7 detects a time lag between a weak hierarchy program signal and a strong hierarchy program signal to perform synchronization, while it supplies a synchronization information B on the time lag to the control section 10.
