This railroad vehicle propulsion control device is provided with: a first electric power converter (16) and a second electric power converter (56) that operate as DC/AC converters, DC/DC converters, or AC/DC converters; a first control device (100) that controls the operation of a first motor (17) and the first electric power converter (16); and a second control device (101) that controls a second motor (57) and the second electric power converter (56). An electric power storage device (24) is configured to be connectable to a second input/output terminal (A2) side and is charged with direct-current electric power supplied from the second input/output terminal (A2) side, or functions as a direct-current electric power supply source that discharges direct-current electric power to the second input/output terminal (A2) side.
