A head mounted display device is disclosed. The head mounted display device comprises: a display panel; a magnifying lens unit for magnifying image light emitted from the display panel; and an optical path modification unit for modifying the path of the image light, which has been magnified by the magnifying lens unit, through a plurality of polyhedron prisms such that the same is imaged on the user's eyes, wherein the optical path modification unit comprises: a first prism having a first surface treated with a convexly curved surface, which is capable of reflection, so as to image the magnified image light on the user's eyes; and a second prism having a second surface treated with a partially reflecting surface such that the image light, which has been magnified by the magnifying lens unit, is reflected, or the image light, which has been reflected by the first surface of the first prism, is transmitted. Accordingly, the optical path is modified using polyhedron prisms, instead of modifying the optical path using a transmitting mirror or a reflecting mirror; as a result, the structure of the head mounted display device is simplified, and errors during the manufacturing process can be reduced; light enters a vacuum state, which has a small refractive index, or air from inside a prism, which has a large refractive index, and then enters the user's eyes; and, as a result, it is possible to implement a wide FOV (field of view), to reduce the distance from the prisms to the user's eyes, and to make the head mounted display device compact. |
