1370641 Complex aluminium phosphates IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 11880/71 Heading C1A A water-soluble solid halogen-containing complex phosphate of aluminium containing chemically bound water is produced by contacting an aluminium orthophosphate hydrate containing at least 2À5 molecules of water per unit of aluminium phosphate with HCl, HBr or MI. The hydrogen halide may be gaseous and may be mixed with a diluent. The preferred hydrates have a formula AlPO4.xH2O where x is in the range 2À7 to 3À3. The preferred conditions for the reaction are a temperature of 0 to 50‹ C., a pressure equal to ambient for HCl and above ambient for HBr and HI. The process may be carried out in a fluidized bed. Specified products are AlPO4.HCl.xH2O where x is 2À9 or 3. |
