By depressing treadle 92 with the foot, actuating arm 84 causes clamp 94 to engage with a stud or latch member 70. Release of the treadle causes actuating arm 84 to return to the at-rest position, moving latch member 70 so that hole 72 is aligned with bore 62 so that plunger 58 is released from the bore and spider support 48 forming the resilient biasing means may spring upwards against the bias imparted by the latch means 58, 62, 70, projecting upwardly a ball 56 placed in the cup 54 of the support. The device is made ready for re-use by placing a ball in cup 54 and depressing support 48 until the plunger 58 engages in the bore 62 and is held by latch member 70.
